Timing to Collect

This information is for cases in County Court or Small Claims Court.

Timing to Collect (County Court or Small Claims Court)

You, as a Judgment Creditor, can collect immediately after judgment entered.

You have time to collect!  A judgment is good for 6 years from judgment date in County Court.  (Judgments can be revived if a Motion to Revive is made before the expiration date—See JDF 112.)  Motions to Revive must be personally served upon the judgment debtor.

What do I do after I get a judgment?  It is the judgment creditor’s responsibility to collect the judgment.  The Clerk and the Court DO NOT collect the judgment for him/her.  See JDF 82.
