Stands for Alternative Dispute Resolution.
- An opportunity to come to some mutual decisions outside of court.
- Mediation
- A type of ADR.
- A neutral person helps the parties to compromise a solution
- The parties resolve all or some of the problems outside of court.

What is mediation?

- Mediation is a chance to resolve your case out of Court.
- A mediator will help you work through disputed areas.

Who mediates?

- Anyone can be a mediator.
- Sometimes the Court will assign a mediator.
- You may use the assigned mediator.
- Or, You may select someone else you both want.

Where do I find a mediator?

The Colorado Office of Dispute Resolution has information on:
- Referrals to mediators in your area.
- What to ask a mediator.
- Assistance with paying for mediation.

Agreement

- You may resolve everything at mediation. Or,
- You may only agree on a few items.
- Anything left will be decided by the Court after a hearing.

You may request that mediation not happen.
